No, the artists of Bioshock should not fear anything. They did a incredible job and created a immersive, destroyed but still beautiful underwater utopia. Every piece of artwork is a joy to look at.
This is the reason why so many fans voted for a artbook in the collector's edition. 2K games considered the three most wanted items (a soundtrack cd, a making of dvd and the big daddy figurine). The Bioshock artbook was close to the third place, but lost in the end.
Many fans were sad, but 2K games listened to them and worked on a digital artbook - secretly. You may think they did it quick and without love, but you are wrong. This artbook (called "Breaking the mold") is really a nice and well designed composition. My personal highlights are the concepts for the Little Sister and a Big Daddy in a wheelchair - really creepy!
Please remember that Ken Levine's foreword may contain spoilers. You might want to read it after finishing the game.
