It is confirmed: The soundtrack cd, which is a part of the Bioshock Collector's Edition only contains three remixed songs ("variations of which appear in their original format in the game"). The three remixes of Beyond the Sea, God Bless the Child and Wild Little Sisters were done by Moby and Oscar The Punk.
Christop Hartman, President of 2K Games was quoted in the press release:
"While these classic songs from the 40's and 50's evoke a happier time, they take on an eerie aesthetic in BioShock's decaying art deco-designed underwater city of Rapture," said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K Games. "Moby and Oscar The Punk have captured that disparity with these remixes and added a new spin to these indelible classics."
After I had so positive opinions about 2K and Bioshock, I am now really disappointed. It's not because just three songs make a soundtrack cd for 2K. I am disappointed because it smells like the whole "fans design/make the CE" affair was used for a big promotion campaign. They seem to use the cd to add big names like Moby to Bioshock, to hype it.
Personally, I like Moby's music, but that's not the point. Apart from songs from the period, the soundtrack was composed by Garry Schyman. People watched trailers of the game, loved the music and read interviews about the composer. After getting the Collector's Edition, they expected to listen to what was purely his work and that is not the case anymore.
I might enjoy the three songs with some biterness and order the Bioshock OST, when it will be released.

While all of us know how Garry Schyman's Bioshock soundtrack rocks, there is surely a demand for a real Bioshock Original Soundtrack CD. Since the mini cd in the game's Collector's Edition seems to include only three songs, a full soundtrack would be much more food for your cd-player.
